9 Mayis tarihli bu yazida Avustralya'ya tasinacagimizin haberini paylasmisim. Ama Melbourne'e ogrenci vizesi ile gidecegimizi dusunuyormusum o zamanlarda.
As Yılmaz family, we are on the verge of one of the biggest changes of our lives. We will move to Melbourne for four years in July, 2012. I will discuss our motives for doing so along with the risks that we dare to take. But before that I shall give you a brief history of our background.
We both come from traditional Anatolian families however the way we look at the world differs from our parent's way. What makes us different from our parents is the power and willingness to take risks and pursuit our dreams. As Walt Disney says, "All of your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them." The idea behind this sentence turned out to be the motto of our lives and we believe that the biggest failure in the world is the failure to try.
Australia seemed to be a nice country for us to pursuit our dreams due to lots of advantages that it has . First of all, the beautiful land with lots of sunshine as well as the abundance of outdoor activities made Australia our first preference. Additionally, because Australia is famous for giving high quality education not only at the universities but also at the primary schools which follow a very well-developed curriculum, I feel very relieved for my education as well as kid's education. Actually this is linked with another advantage of Australia. Strong curriculum and education makes the land an attractive destination for the international students who decide to make the country their home and stay there after graduation, too. As a result of this Australia it is a multi-cultural country and thus my kids won't be the only non-Australian kids in the society. Moreover this diversity of cultures will hopefully help them become global citizens.
Despite all of the advantages, undoubtedly we will have some problems as a result of this decision. For instance we will not have our nanny with us and we will surely feel the help of an extra hand. Furthermore we will not have a regular income such as our salaries but regular expenses like the university fee, kids' schooling expenses, etc. Thereby we may have some financial problems. Lastly and surely we will miss our friends and family a lot. These are some of the risks that we take.
To sum up, we are aware of the fact that it won't be easy but hopefully it will worth it. After four years, we will be coming back to the country with a postgraduate diploma, a deep understanding and appreciation of different cultures, the satisfaction and experience of having overcome this challenge. I wish God stays with us and he blesses us in this tough adventure.
